Open Access Comes to WoW: Forever Stress Test October 21

Blizzard has moved the World of Warcraft: Forever stress test to October 21, opening the limited test window to anyone without requiring a subscription, Game Time, an invitation, or beta access. The October 16 update gives players a chance to join the subscription-based MMO’s server test without buying access to its beta.

The test starts at 2:00 p.m. PDT in North America and 19:00 CEST in Europe. In Korea, it begins at 06:00 KST on October 22; Taiwan’s start is 05:00 CST that same day. The beta will go offline shortly before the test and is expected to return shortly after it ends, though Blizzard may shorten or extend the window as needed.

Players can select World of Warcraft: Forever Stress Test under “In Development” in the Battle.net app’s Game Version menu, then install it. Once the test begins, they can choose an available test realm and create a new character. The existing WoW: Forever beta has used more restricted access, while Blizzard has also been increasing beta capacity.

Schedule and access details

• Date: October 21, with Korea and Taiwan starting on October 22 local time.
• Before installing: Update graphics drivers and the Battle.net desktop app.
• Join the test: Select the stress-test version, install it, then choose a realm and create a test character when the event opens.

Characters, names, and guilds created on the stress-test servers will be wiped afterward. Name Reservations begin October 27; purchasers of the Skyborne Heroic Pack, Skyborne Epic Pack, or limited-time Warcraft Forever Collection receive Early Name Reservation access through November 3. Names are first-come, first-served and are not guaranteed.
