Warzone is removing two of its most iconic maps, Verdansk and Rebirth Island, when Season 1 begins on November 6, but they won’t be gone for too long.
Both maps have been staples of the battle royale in recent years, with Verdansk offering large-scale matches and Rebirth Island providing a smaller, faster-paced alternative through Resurgence.
However, Activision has confirmed that neither will be available when the new season launches, as two brand-new locations take their place.
Hajin and Zodiac replace Verdansk and Rebirth in Warzone Season 1
As confirmed in Activision’s official Season 1 announcement, Hajin from DMZ will replace Verdansk as Warzone’s main Battle Royale map, while Zodiac takes over from Rebirth Island for Resurgence.
Hajin is a massive map set across North and South Korea, featuring 13 major points of interest. Players will be able to explore crowded cities, farmland, and military facilities, with changing weather conditions adding another challenge.
It will also feature a brand-new Gulag, where eliminated players can fight for another chance to return to the match.
Meanwhile, Zodiac is a much smaller location built around a South Korean drone manufacturing facility, featuring 10 named locations. Its industrial setting includes underground tunnels, moving trains, and interactive hazards.
The good news is that the old maps aren’t disappearing permanently. Activision has confirmed that Verdansk and Rebirth Island will both return during Season 1, although an exact date hasn’t been announced.
When Verdansk comes back, it will feature new locations including the Signal Station, Grazna-7 Launch Complex, Overlook skyscraper, and Drone Labs. These POIs are said to bring everything from “frozen forests and industrial sprawl to dense city blocks” to the map.
